The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) was founded in 1899 by veterans returning from overseas military service who sought to support fellow veterans and ensure they received the care, recognition, and benefits they earned through their service.
For more than a century, the VFW has been a leading voice for America's veterans, helping secure important legislation, health care benefits, educational opportunities, and support services for veterans and their families.
Today, the VFW remains one of the nation's largest and most respected veterans service organizations, committed to serving veterans, military members, and communities across the country.

VFW Post 2680 has proudly served veterans in El Dorado County since the years following World War II. Originally known as the Camerado VFW Post 2680, the Post has long been a gathering place for veterans seeking camaraderie, service, and a continued connection to their fellow servicemen and women.
As the community grew and changed, the Post evolved into what is now known as Placerville VFW Post 2680, serving veterans and their families throughout the region. Today, the Post meets at the Veterans Memorial Building in Placerville and continues its commitment to honoring those who served while supporting local veterans and community programs.
