Veterans Assistance
Post 2680 is dedicated to connecting veterans with vital resources, benefits information, claims assistance, and community support. Whether you are transitioning from military service, seeking VA benefits, or looking for camaraderie, we are committed to helping you through various community service initiatives aimed at veterans.
National Veterans Service (NVS)
Our accredited VFW Service Officers are here to assist veterans and their families in accessing benefits earned through military service, including disability compensation, pensions, education benefits, and survivor benefits, as part of our overall military support programs.
Unmet Needs
The VFW's Unmet Needs Program is designed to provide financial assistance to eligible military families who are facing unexpected hardships during deployment, recovery, or transition, reinforcing our commitment to veteran assistance.
Military Assistance Program (MAP)
We support active-duty personnel through care packages, morale-building activities, and assistance for deployed service members and their families, underlining our dedication to comprehensive military support programs.

Youth & Education Programs
Voice of Democracy: A scholarship competition for high school students in grades 9-12. Students record and submit an audio essay based on an annual patriotic theme for the opportunity to compete for local, state, and national scholarships, enhancing their community service initiatives.
Patriot's Pen: Designed for students in grades 6-8, Patriot's Pen encourages young Americans to explore and express their understanding of patriotism through written essays, fostering civic engagement and support for military support programs.
Teacher of the Year: Recognizes outstanding educators who promote civic responsibility, American history, and patriotism in the classroom, inspiring students to participate in community service initiatives.
Scout Recognition Program: Honors Scouts who demonstrate leadership, citizenship, and community service through their Scouting achievements, reinforcing the values of service and support for veterans.
Youth Activities: The Auxiliary sponsors community youth projects, educational events, and activities that encourage civic engagement and volunteerism, while also focusing on veteran assistance.
Community Service Programs
Community Volunteerism: Members dedicate countless hours to support local organizations, schools, veterans, and community events through various community service initiatives. Their volunteer efforts encompass fundraising, mentoring, event support, and outreach programs aimed at strengthening community ties.
Buddy Poppy Program: One of the VFW's most recognized military support programs, the Buddy Poppy honors veterans while raising funds that contribute to veteran assistance, rehabilitation programs, and local support efforts.
Flag Education & Promotion: The VFW promotes respect for the American flag through educational presentations, flag retirement ceremonies, and patriotic observances, enhancing community awareness and appreciation throughout the year.
Disaster Relief Support: The organization provides vital assistance to veterans, service members, and community members impacted by natural disasters and emergencies, coordinating relief efforts that embody the spirit of community service initiatives.
First Responder Recognition
Law Enforcement Officer of the Year: Recognizes exceptional dedication and service by local law enforcement professionals, celebrating their contributions to community service initiatives that enhance public safety.
Firefighter of the Year: Honors firefighters who demonstrate outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to public safety, often supporting community service initiatives that strengthen community bonds.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) of the Year: Recognizes medical first responders for their exceptional service to their communities, playing a vital role in military support programs and veteran assistance efforts.
